Take me out to the ballgame

Today was one of the few games this year that the Red Sox play the A's out here in Oakland. And I was lucky enough to get to go with my dad and Pop (who just arrived from Boston for a visit!).

I don't know which is more disappointing... that the Sox lost or that I just finished my ice cream.
Well, win or lose, ice cream or no ice cream, this is still a ton of fun.
And check this out. They let kids run the bases today after the game.
I cross home plate, casually strolling to the plate as though I hit an out of the park home run.

Amateur Photography

Awhile back I got a very cool gift from Grandpa Chip. I got my very own digital camera (no worries folks, he gave me a very old camera that he doesn't use any more). My mom takes so many photos around here that it is fun to take some pictures of my own. Here's a sample:

Note from Robby's mom: I got the idea to hand Robby a camera after seeing a friend let her 3 year old take photos. In that case her son had an older camera as well and it was really neat to see the world through a toddler's photographic eye.

So, dad handed off his old camera as a gift to Robby. They make kid's digital cameras but I have not read one good review. The batteries for this camera are pretty soft so I ordered a replacement today and Robby will have more opportunity to play around with the camera. It will be fun to post up photos taken from Robby's point of view... just one step closer to him taking over this blog :)

Report Card

Here are some notes from Robby's "report card" from preschool:

-Robby is always very proud of his art projects or when he completes his puzzles
-Robby loves initiating conversations with his friends
-Robby loves trying new activities
-Robby is always so enthusiastic when he comes to school. We always look forward to seeing his smile!

More installation art

Note from Robby's mom:
I've posted in the past (here) about how Robby would create his own "installation art" throughout the house with his toys from the movie Cars. Well, as you can see in the photo below Robby is maturing as an artist as his latest piece takes on a more complex design. He's branching out to include cars, trains, trucks, and other vehicle related items (like the carrying case). At first glance someone may think that this is just a disorganized mass of toys, but they would be wrong. A lot of thought goes into a masterpiece like this. And of course he'll have to put it all away tonight before bedtime.

Parades, Parties and Picnics

I don't even know if I can start to explain how much fun the past couple of days have been. I'll give it a shot...

First, Saturday morning was the 61st Annual Los Altos Pet Parade. We made it just in time for the start of the parade and found a shady spot on the curb.

Here's the group from my preschool. We didn't make it out of the house in time to join the crowd. And besides, my mom said she didn't think the cats would be too interested in participating. Maybe we'll march in the parade next year.

Second, on Sunday it was my friend Kam's birthday party. They had a bouncy house which was wicked cool!
I also got a shot at hitting the pinata.
And there was also face/body painting. They asked if I wanted a blue train or a red car... so I asked for a red train. Oh, and the cake was really good too!And third, there was no school today... but there was a special picnic tonight which was almost as much fun as regular school. I barely took anytime to eat because I was having too much fun on the playground and running around with my friends. Whew! What a fun few days.

Head to toe

I got these awesome Cars pajamas and socks from my Aunt Whitney. Now I'm totally decked out in Lightening McQueen gear... even my Pull Ups have McQueen on them. Cool!

The Magic Sandbox

Sure things are hectic around here with my baby sister around, but I'm don't worry that I'm being neglected. For example, today I found out that birthday gifts can come early! Here's what I call my Magic Sandbox (don't ask what makes it magic - it just is).
Dad did a great job of putting it together and I supervised.
I also got a new assortment of toys for the sandbox!
And now I am set for months and months of fun! Don't worry, mom remembered the sunscreen and sunglasses.

Fine Dining

Last night Grandpa Chip treated us to a nice dinner out. It was baby Carolyn's first time at a restaurant and we were all on good behavior. As you can see, Grandpa and I were having a great time.
And did you know that kids get ice cream after dinner if they are well behaved? How cool is that?!

Out for a walk

With the arrival of baby Carolyn we needed a new stroller that could handle the both of us. So now we have this cool contraption with the special "jump seat" for a big brother like me. We took a walk down to the grocery store and it was lots of fun.

I'm a Big Brother!

It was a crazy weekend here. My baby sister Carolyn arrived!! She's really cute. She has tiny feet, little pink fingers, no teeth and she cries sometimes.

I like to give her kisses and cuddles... but mommy, daddy or grandma has to be supervising.
And how did baby Carolyn know that the way to a little boy's heart is through his train collections? Thanks baby sis!

School Photos

Robby's mom:
More school photos were taking at preschool a little bit ago. Please ignore the stamped watermarks on these proofs. Looking at the first photo I have a feeling that in college if Robby passes out drunk on a couch in a fraternity house he'll have something a lot less benign then "Vince Tarry Photography" written all over his forehead...

Jokes aside, we have some cute photos to choose from. In the first 5 photos the photographer managed to get a pretty genuine smile out of Robby.

Adios!

Grandpa Chip and Shirley left the other day. Boy did I have lots of fun with them during their visit!
Almost too much fun. Soon after they left I caught a much needed nap way ahead of my regular schedule. I just couldn't keep my eyes open...

Road Trip

We took Grandpa Chip and Shirley down to the aquarium yesterday. I hear that they've been there before, but not with ME! I gave them the grand tour.
We saw all sorts of fantastic fish. And I almost got eaten by a giant clam!
Then I had a fantastic dessert at lunch. Hmmm, brownie and ice cream (although the whipped cream was my favorite).
But the best part of the day.... The CABOOSE!! Too bad it was closed so I couldn't go inside. If given the chance I think I would have moved right in.

Visitors

"Robby, do you remember who's coming to our house today?"

"What?"

"Do you remember? I told you yesterday who is coming for a visit."

"What?"

"Who is flying all the way from Michigan to California to come to our house?"

"Santa Claus!"

"Nope. You got the beard right though." (Dad and Shirley arrive this afternoon)
