Another favorite

My parents told me something about this treat found in Kauai called "shave ice." Let's see what all of the hype is about...
OH! MY! GOD! Is that for me?!
It doesn't look like any ice cream I've seen before, but I'm willing to give it a try.
Hmm, is it a snow cone or what?
Let me have a taste and give my official toddler review.
Hmmm. Very interesting. I see, there is shaved ice on the top with different flavored syrup. And ice cream on the bottom. A very creative creation. Yes! I like it! More please.

All Aboard!

If you ask me, one of the best things about our vacation was that there is a train on the island of Kauai. Yes, folks A TRAIN! I think you have an idea that I'm a little obsessed these days.

We can't get this picture to work right, but here I am next to the engine. So cool!
And since I was the first and only kid there, I got a chance to blow the whistle a couple of time. The first time the whistle blew it made me jump, but then I got the hang of things.
Here I am again (sideways - sorry) with my very own ticket to be punched for the train ride. I've been carrying this around with me every since. And I even take the ticket to bed with me.
Halfway through the train ride we got off to feed some of the animals that live on the plantation. There were sheep, goats and a bunch of baby piglets. It was fun and a little scary at the same time. Are you sure this goat won't nibble off my fingers?

Don't be Koi

Another cool thing about this vacation is that each morning we got the chance to help feed the fish in the pond. 9am sharp they were waiting for their breakfast!


My mom asked and found out that there are maybe 1000 fish in the pond. Wow, that's a lot! They went crazy for their food and it was so fun to watch.

Poipu State Beach

I hear that years ago this beach and area of ocean was much more kid friendly. It was essentially a large tide pool protected from big waves and it had tons of fish. After a few rough winters things are a little more dicey and I can't swim much here. Let me see if I can replace some of the sand and make this water a little more shallow...

Go Pats! (Hawaii edition)

My parents made sure that I was adequately prepared and packed my Tom Brady jersey for our trip. And don't worry, we didn't waste too much time watching the game. Since the game was Sunday, our first full day on the island, I took a nap early through part of the game.
During halftime we stepped out to grab a bite for lunch. And then for the second half of the game mommy and I went swimming and dad watched the game from the pool bar. And now, on to the Superbowl!!

And after all of that excitement I needed another nap - this time poolside. It takes a lot of energy to be on vacation.

Oops. Watch that undertoe.

This surf is wild! I was only up to it in my ankles and I fell down. And what do my parents do? Point, laugh and take pictures. Thanks a lot.

Hey, I'm tough. I can take it. Just get these wet clothes off of me please.

Fine Dining

Well, it sure took long enough, but we finally make it to Hawaii. I like it here! Who wouldn't though? Soon after we checked into the hotel it was time to go out and grab a bite to eat. Travelings makes a little boy so hungry.
I like this restaurant! It comes with a table-side waterfall. Pretty neat!
I'm always happy to nosh on some watermelon. Cheese and crackers don't hurt much either.
The neatest thing about this place is the entertainment. Koi fish that swim right up to your table. Sorry fishy, I'm keeping the watermelon to myself.
And best of all? A big, warm brownie for dessert. Yum!! Like I said, who wouldn't love this place?

I'm definitely not 100% yet, but I have way more energy than I have had the past few days.

Style tips

Today my outfit is saying two things. One, I'm an individual who has a sense of style all his own - this is demonstrated by my unique, handmade hat from Coochooloo. I'm an independent thinker.
However, I do not reject all that toddler pop culture has to offer...
These new Thomas sneakers are definitely going to be a new favorite.

Trains Galore

Among many other cool things, Santa brought me some more wooden train track to add to my collection. Sure I have my train table, but those pieces are glued down and that inhibits my creativity. Now I can make bigger and better tracks all over the living room!

Afternoon snack

Robby and his mom are sharing a fresh papaya for an afternoon snack.

Robby: Pa-pa-pie-ya.
Nikki: Yes, this is a PAPAYA. Say it again.
Robby: Papaya
Nikki: You know where they have lots of payapa? In Hawaii!
Robby: Ha-why?
Nikki: Yes, in Hawaii.
Robby: And ice cream?
Nikki: Well, we'll see about that.

All day sucker

I guess getting my haircut isn't so bad if I get to have a lollipop to keep me preoccupied.

(Note from Robby's parents - we tried this distraction before but he was always too hysterical to show any interest. The first lollipop got covered in hair so it was pitched. Two hours later he's still working on eating the second lollipop.)

The coolest!

ABC pancakes were pretty neat. But this is a whole different level of coolness!

A fresh start to a fresh year

On New Year's Day we took a nice little walk nearby our house. The sun and cool air were refreshing - and I liked to pretend that this long piece of wood was a railroad track.
Ah, this old tree looks interesting. Here's a big piece of wood that looks like a perfect thing to throw.
Whew, this has been a long walk. Just give me a moment to catch my breath and rest my little toddler legs.
Okay, off we go again... I need to collect some more rocks.
