Zoo - Part Two

Today daddy had the day off of work since it is a holiday, so we went to the Zoo! This time we went to the Stone Zoo. It was really hot so we didn't want to stay at home all day. But unfortunately the heat meant that most of the animals were pretty sleepy and they didn't do much other than hide in the shade. Here I am looking for some of these lazy animals.
Mom wants to hang a sign like this on my bedroom door. Ha ha.
The Stone Zoo recently welcomed three brand new baby jaguar cubs! Aren't they cute?! We got to watch them run around and play. That was the best part of the day. Mommy said that she wanted to take one home, but the zookeeper said no. Apparently these kitties would get too big to live in our house. Bummer.

This baby goes to eleven...

Hello, it's me again. Robby Emens. Well of course, who else would it be? It's my blog right? Anyway, today I turned 11 months old. Do you know what that means? There is limited time to plan my gigantic birthday bash. I wonder if my mom and dad have made reservations for the pony rides yet.

So, as an 11-month-old I'm getting to be quite a big kid. Some may classify me as a toddler even though I'm not walking independently quite yet. I suspect that my parents might sabotage my walking efforts by tying my shoelaces together... I'll be more trouble than ever once I can run around!! And as my t-shirt indicates (a gift from my cool aunt Whit), another month in age and I have gotten louder. I'm particularly vocal when pulled away from one of my important projects like playing with the trashcan in the kitchen. Ug, my parents don't let me have any fun.

Mom, when I asked for some watermelon I didn't think you would give me a whole piece. What am I supposed to do with this? It's way too big!

Product Placement

I could do ads for Apple demonstrating how their iPod is indestructible... even in the hands of a drooling toddler. Too bad this is only my mom's really old iPod and it no longer works. Otherwise, I'd be rockin' out to some cool tunes!
And how about this..."Can you hear me now, Mama?" The phone however, is not droolproof. My mom found that out when some water from my bottle spilled on her phone and it broke. In the end it worked out for both of us. She got a new phone and I got her old one! She thinks the spill was an "accident."

Planning for the future

I went to go visit my financial planner today (hint: it's my dad!). I'm checking to see that he's keeping on top of things. I need to make sure that he holds the right type of funds in my 529 acount - companies that sell toys, candy, puppies, Cheerios. That kind of thing.
Hmmm, this keyboard looks like a lot of fun to play with... What happens if I hit this button that says "sell."
Okay dad, it looks like my portfolio is in good shape. But what about these "misc. fees"? Do you mind going into some detail about what that covers?

Puzzling

I'd rather be playing wih the trashcan in the bathroom, but mommy gave me this cool puzzle to play with. Yeah, I pulled all of the pieces out!! I think that deserves a round of applause.
Hey cat, what to help me put the pieces back into the puzzle? What? You can't since you only have one front leg? What kind of excuse is that?
Ah, here we go. Who needs help from a cat anyway?

"Put me in the Zoo"

After 8 days of continuous rain, the sun is finally out! So, today mommy and I went to the Franklin Park Zoo with some friends. We saw many exciting animals, like the big daddy gorilla in the photo above. Do you think he is flexing his tricep in an effort to indimidate us? He is a little scary looking.
We got to see the whole gorilla family. Here is a picture of the baby gorilla and her big sister. The gorillas were really fun to watch. The big sister gorilla even did a little dance for us by twirling around in circles. Silly gorilla!
Mommy and I had our picture taken with the big daddy gorilla in the background. He looked so big and strong. I think here he is enjoying a snack of grass and dandelions. And as you can see from the expression on my face I'm ready for a nap.
Here is the mommy giraffe and her baby. The baby was only born this past January. I'm way older than she is, but she's already over 6 feet tall. Gulp! That's a biiig baby!!
And here is a big sleepy lion. Hey, sometime is strikingly familiar about him... he does just what my cats at home do all day - SLEEP!

Happy Mother's Day

Hi Mommy, I want to wish you a very Happy Mother's Day. You do a great job of taking care of me... especially when I don't feel so good or I bump my head. You make sure I have good food to eat (like the sauce I spilled on my shirt today). You make sure I have cool clothes and fun toys. You try your best to make sure I get enough sleep even though I tend to make that difficult for all of us.
You clean up after my messes (both around the house and in my diapers). You take me out for long walks to make sure I get fresh air. You take me to fun classes and playgroups so that I can make friends with other babies. So far, in my book, you get an A+!! Keep up the good work mommy, and I'll think about letting you get some sleep one of these days. Love, Robby

Check Please

After some more shopping today (yawn), we stopped at Legal Seafoods for a late lunch. My mom and grandma decided to have a Mother's Day lunch a week early. So, I thought that I would pick up the bill. What? They don't take my Babies R Us charge card? Well, then um, this is kind of embarrasing. Mom could I borrow some cash?

Derby Day

I'm still having lots of fun with grandma Mary in town. I got a little bored shopping at the mall today, but luckily we were home in time to catch the Kentucky Derby. I can't quite remember who won. I was too busy riding along on my own pony. His name is Rody Red Rider. Maybe one day we'll compete in an actual race - see I even have appropriate attire.

"Make Way for Ducklings" (and grandma too!)

My grandma Mary is in town for a visit. She's helping my mom look after me while my dad is out of town for a few days. We are having tons of fun. Today we went to the Public Garden. There are lots of pretty flowers and we got to see the statues from "Make Way for Ducklings." As you can see in the photo above, these ducklings are just my size!

We also took a ride on the famous Swan Boats of Boston. It was lots of fun and a great thing to do on a warm and sunny day.

Earlier in the day we had gone to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum. They don't allow anyone to take any photos so I don't have anything to post from that adventure.

ISGM The Museum: Introduction

The museum was really neat, but the security guards were a little uptight. Apparently there is good reason to keep an eye on everyone... in 1990 two men dressed as police officers stole 13 paintings from the museum in the middle of the night. My friend Gabriela and I must have looked like real trouble sitting there strapped in our strollers!
