Giving it a try

I'm trying really hard to be good for my mom this week. I slip sometimes, but what can you expect from a rambunctious kid like me.

Peek-a-Boo, I can't see you!

I know this hasn't been updated in awhile, but no worries. I don't feel ignored. We've all been super busy. I've been going to school a lot and my free time I've had many friends come over and play.

I love my new house. There are many things I like about living here. I like the upstairs living room (which is currently empty and a great place to run around). I also like the carpeted living room downstairs where I have a bunch of toys. I like that the house has stairs... carpeted stairs.
My favorite this is that the house is big, big, big, big! (that's a direct quote)

First day of school

Today is the start of a new year of school. I'm in the 3's class which offers so much more fun stuff to do. I'm in the Green group which is perfect since green is my favorite color. Each day I'll get plenty of free "exploration" and "discovery" time but I'll also get short lessons in science, math, phys. ed, language and "practical life skills." Sounds like a lot of fun!

Fun with my cousins

I've been lucky enough to have lots of time with family. What else is summer vacation for? First I saw my second cousins. Here we are all trying to pose for a group photos. From left to right is Cooper, me, Carolyn, Sophia, Abby and Brady.
And I got to see my favorite little buddy, Jack Magoun! Then almost as soon as we got back to California my aunt Terri and cousin Nina were here to visit. Nina and I had a blast! We swam a lot in the pool, played games, and did a little artwork. I'm a pretty lucky kid to have so many fun cousins in my family.

Things I did up north

Going up north gets more and more fun each year. Here is just a sample of things that I got to do while on vacation.

I got to drive the boat.

Sure the dune climb was fun, but I really had a blast chasing the seagulls.
I got to go on a train ride in Traverse City. Uncle Pete knows the conductor so we got an extra lap around the track.
I absolutely loved taking my friend Maya for walks. She's a good dog!
And I don't always need fancy entertainment. I had a blast playing in the rain and digging for treasure on the beach.

Gone Fishing

The first thing I wanted to do when I got up north was to go fishing. My parents don't quite understand my recent obsession and neither do I. But I definitely wanted to catch THE BIG ONE.
I've spent a lot of time the past few days trying out my casting technique, testing out the effectiveness of different types of bait and figuring this all out.
And all of my patience paid off. Look what I caught...

I WANT TO GO TO MICHIGAN!

So, here's why I bugged my mom so much last week about wanting to go to Michigan. There are some really cool things here... like my grandma who drives a convertible!
There are really long freight trains that you can see from a convertible.
And the convertible can take me to the best ice cream in town!

Artistic Expression

I'm really into painting these days. It's a lot of fun and I'm having a good time coming up with different "subjects." Here's an abstract painting where I was just playing with colors.

And this painting is a scene from "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" which is one of my favorite DVDs.

Now, off to create some more masterpieces.

When I grow up

Today's subject at preschool was "All About Me." I decided that when I grow up I want to be a race car driver and a fireman.

A jumping good time

This morning I headed back to preschool for a month-long orientation. I'm so relieved to go back to school and have so much fun. And if that wasn't excitement enough, afterwards my mom took me to this place called Sky High Sports which is nothing by endless trampolines to jump on. It was a total blast!!

Show me those pearly whites

Some big things happen when a kid turns 3. For example, I went to the dentist for the first time today. A very nice lady named April cleaned my teeth while I watched a TV that was in the ceiling. How cool is that? And then I met Dr. Maria who was very nice and she said I had very nice teeth!
Additional notes from Robby's mom:
First of all, I've heard that some pediatric dentists will say that your child should be seen as soon as they cut their first tooth. HA! This visit was not cheap ($195) so you can bet that I wouldn't drag an infant in for a check up unless I thought something really needed attention. Anyway, I have a good friend who is a pediatric dentist and she agreed that 3 is a good age to start regular dental exams.

Robby did great today. He was a little tense, but there was no whining or crying. As you can see in the photo that he looks like he'd had a lobotomy. I think it was just a combination of nerves and being entranced by the fact that he could watch a Mickey Mouse cartoon on the ceiling. Boy things have gotten fancy since I was a kid at the dentist!

It turns out that our water does not have fluoride. General Jack D. Ripper would be so relieved (and if you don't know what I'm talking about then you should run out and rent Dr. Strangelove - great flick). Anyway, now I will take the advice of the dentist and give Robby some fluoride drops even though this requires a prescription.

The general report was that Robby's teeth are in excellent shape and that he seems to have good teeth due to genetics and good oral hygiene (that makes me proud too!). I think this is also reflective of the fact that Robby doesn't drink juice and we don't give him many chances to eat candy and other sugary junk.

Olympic Trials

With the Summer Olympics just weeks away we've been doing some intense training. Our Monkey Toss technique is almost perfected. I need to start off with the proper form and dad has to make sure he's got the right height and speed for the toss.
The launch needs just the right amount of force...
I need to maintain my form...
And I stick the perfect landing! Next stop Beijing.
