A jumping good time

This morning I headed back to preschool for a month-long orientation. I'm so relieved to go back to school and have so much fun. And if that wasn't excitement enough, afterwards my mom took me to this place called Sky High Sports which is nothing by endless trampolines to jump on. It was a total blast!!

Show me those pearly whites

Some big things happen when a kid turns 3. For example, I went to the dentist for the first time today. A very nice lady named April cleaned my teeth while I watched a TV that was in the ceiling. How cool is that? And then I met Dr. Maria who was very nice and she said I had very nice teeth!
Additional notes from Robby's mom:
First of all, I've heard that some pediatric dentists will say that your child should be seen as soon as they cut their first tooth. HA! This visit was not cheap ($195) so you can bet that I wouldn't drag an infant in for a check up unless I thought something really needed attention. Anyway, I have a good friend who is a pediatric dentist and she agreed that 3 is a good age to start regular dental exams.

Robby did great today. He was a little tense, but there was no whining or crying. As you can see in the photo that he looks like he'd had a lobotomy. I think it was just a combination of nerves and being entranced by the fact that he could watch a Mickey Mouse cartoon on the ceiling. Boy things have gotten fancy since I was a kid at the dentist!

It turns out that our water does not have fluoride. General Jack D. Ripper would be so relieved (and if you don't know what I'm talking about then you should run out and rent Dr. Strangelove - great flick). Anyway, now I will take the advice of the dentist and give Robby some fluoride drops even though this requires a prescription.

The general report was that Robby's teeth are in excellent shape and that he seems to have good teeth due to genetics and good oral hygiene (that makes me proud too!). I think this is also reflective of the fact that Robby doesn't drink juice and we don't give him many chances to eat candy and other sugary junk.

Olympic Trials

With the Summer Olympics just weeks away we've been doing some intense training. Our Monkey Toss technique is almost perfected. I need to start off with the proper form and dad has to make sure he's got the right height and speed for the toss.
The launch needs just the right amount of force...
I need to maintain my form...
And I stick the perfect landing! Next stop Beijing.

Slugger

We've been watching a lot of baseball these days (the Sox/Yankees series) and so I headed out to the back yard for a little batting practice all on my own. It's a HOME RUN!
(note from Robby's mom: Rob and I were in the living room and watched Robby head out to the yard to do this all on his own. It was one of those cool moments when you get to watch your kid while they don't realize they are being observed.)

what's this?

We had a lot of rain and thunderstorms while we were in Boston. I'm not used to this considering we won't see rain in California for months. I wish it would rain because I like playing with umbrellas and stomping in mud puddles.

The neverending birthday

I've had so many birthday celebrations that I can't even count that high. Let me try to tell you a little bit about what has been going on.

Sunday was my real official birthday party with the big cake and everything. Isn't this Thomas cake the coolest? I was also lucky enough to share my birthday party with Nana since the party was on her actual birthday.
By now I'm an expert at blowing out candles.
I'm also a professional cake eater too. Here I am devouring the best part of the Thomas cake - the face.
My parents got me this t-shirt to wear on my birthday.
On my actual birthday (last Friday) I had a couple of present to open even though I've already been spoiled with tons of other stuff. This is a really cool train mat that I picked out and asked for.
Saturday was another impromptu party for me. Mrs. Taylor made me cupcakes and they were delicious. Thanks to everyone for making me feel like such a special kid.

Train rides

All trains, all the time folks! Last week one of the highlights of vacation was getting to go on a train ride. To be specific we were on the T, which is kind of more like a trolley, but still it is a mode of transportation that involves rails so that's a train in my book. Two different days we went on rides and it was pretty fun. I got to sit in my own seat too.
One day my mom tried to take me to a puppet show, but the tickets were all sold out. In my honest opinion, the train ride was the most fun anyway. Since the show didn't work out we grabbed some breakfast and headed home. Hanging out in the train shed to avoid the rain was pretty cool.

Actually, I like my baby sister a lot. But if she ever gets out of line or bugs me too much I might have to resort to something like this poem by Shel Silverstein:

What do you mean I can't sit here?

I've been back here in Brookline this week... my old stomping grounds as mom calls it. One thing a train junkie like me loves is that we live really close to the T tracks. Everytime we go somewhere I have to wait on top of this overpass to watch a trolley or two go by.
A couple of days ago this was my afternoon entertainment. I brought along a snack of pretzels and chocolate milk and decided to have myself a little picnic. At first my mom told me not to sit right in the middle of everything, but then she decided it was a battle not worth picking.

Let the fun begin!

It's not even my birthday yet and already the parties have started! My parents decided that since Auntie Denise and Grandma Mary were in town that we'd have an early party (it is Auntie Denise's birthday soon too). Besides, my parents didn't want to drag all of these packages to Boston.
As you know by now I'm a big fan of trains. My mom found this "vintage" Fisher Price Zoo Train for me and it's really cool. It's a train, it has animals and it makes lots of noise! It just might be the perfect gift.
And the big finale... A Thomas the Tank Engine Super Deluxe Roundhouse! I can't believe what a lucky kid I am!!! (note from the parents: this sh*t is expensive! We only bought it because a local store was having a sale of 40% off all Thomas stuff).
This is bound to keep me busy for hours.
Oh yeah, we had cupcakes too. Can't forget about the cupcakes. Now on to the next party.

Cranky - not just a state of mind

Cranky is also a toy! A toy that I have earned with my very hard work at potty training. I worked really really hard. I cooperated as much as a toddler can cooperate and I earned my handsome reward.
Now my parents say that I just have to keep up the good work....

Passed out

So what if I was so tired today that I fell asleep in the cart while at the grocery store? I swear that the cases of beer in the background had nothing to do with my inability to stay awake.

Exaggeration

Robby's mom:

I understand that toddlers and kids can be prone to exaggeration. Lately if we take something away from Robby (like a gigantic tub of pretzels) we will likely hear him exclaim "No! Give it back. It's my WHOLE LIFE!"

31 Flavors

Yesterday was my last day of preschool. For a special treat, my mom took me out for ice cream after dinner. It was very nice to have time to ourselves (Carolyn was home with daddy). I had a hard time picking a flavor... chocolate chip? oreo cookie? strawberry? Finally I went with good old CHOCOLATE!

An adventure

The other day my dad and I took Nana and Pop on a little adventure to wine country. Here's a collection of photos from our trip. We had lunch, I busted out with some cool dance moves, we visited a lot of vineyards, and we stayed overnight at a hotel (I pulled my own suitcase!). Since I was so well behaved we made a special stop at Sonoma Train Town which was a total blast! I got to ride the train, a carousel, an airplane and feed some farm animals. It was a really fun trip.
